ART IS FREEDOMBlair loves all forms of art - anything that is a true expression of one's "inner voice." Everyone has their 'song' deep within them, and Blair appreciates and identifies with anyone who has discovered their song (the "divine spark that's within us all"). It's that thing that transcends language and culture. Some people use guitars, drums and keyboards to express their song. Others express their song through dance, poetry, athletics, architecture, flower arranging - or just sitting in complete silence. The source of that song is the source of ALL songs. Blair has been expressing his 'song' through the guitar since he was around 13. He has played in bands since high school and has dedicated his life to the pursuit of beauty, art, freedom, love and peace. Some of his influences are: Mos Def, Miles Davis, U2, Aimee Mann, Sting, Counting Crows, Radiohead, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Bob Marley, Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, De La Soul, Common, Marvin Gaye, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Alanis Moresette, Filter, Bjork, Tori Amos, Jill Scott, Billy Joel, Rage Against the Machine, Tommy Fields (www.tommyfieldsmusic.com)... Some of his non-musical influences are: Bruce Lee, George Carlin, Lao Tsu, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Muhammad Ali, David Chappelle, as well as nature and some amazingly beautiful people he has met over the years. |
